The ACE Advantage

Studying with ACE Distance has its advantages:

  • Provides ultimate flexibility -- study when you want, where you want
  • Offers the convenience of being able to do your school work at home to accommodate family obligations and employment schedules
  • Removes barriers such as time, child care and transportation restrictions that prevent you from attending on site programs
  • Allows you to study even if you live in a small community where in-class upgrading programs are not available
  • Allows you to use the Internet if you prefer learning in an online environment to the traditional classroom
  • Your teachers and academic advisor are only an email away
  • No interruptions in training -- Monthly start dates allow you to prepare to continue further training or re-enter the workforce as quickly and conveniently as possible
  • Gives you 22 weeks to finish each course, but you can complete as quickly as you are able
  • It meets the needs of Ontario Skills Development, Second Career and other sponsored clients

Do you need to switch from an ACE classroom to ACE Distance?

If you are currently enrolled in a college classroom for the ACE program, ACE Distance provides you with the opportunity to enhance and continue your in-class studies if…

  • Your chosen courses are not available through the classroom (e.g., Biology, Chemistry and Physics, goal-specific maths such as Technology, Apprenticeship and Business)
  • You have to take a leave of absence
  • Your work schedule changes and it’s impractical for you to attend class
  • Your personal situation changes and you are unable to attend
  • Your classroom location closes or downsizes during the summer and you want to continue your studies

Talk to your classroom teacher to discuss whether registering for an ACE Distance course is suitable for you. You don’t have to start the course again. We can transfer your current grades to the ACE Distance teacher. If you and your classroom teacher decide that transferring to ACE Distance is best for you, contact Lynne Wallace at l.wallace@xplornet.com to start the process. You will need to provide the following information:

  1. Your name and email address,
  2. The ACE Course you want to transfer
  3. The month you want to start the distance course
  4. The name and location of the college you are attending
  5. The name and email address of your classroom teacher.

*You will still need to successfully complete Learn to Learn to transfer.*
