HOW TO APPLY

To confirm your eligibility to take courses with ACE Distance, you must complete the following:

1. Online application form

2. Online skills assessments

3. Online orientation course (Learn to Learn – 15 to 20 hours over the course of 3 weeks)

Learn to Learn (L2L) starts most Tuesdays throughout the year

It takes four to six weeks to complete the above steps.

APPLICATION PROCESS

1. COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM
After you submit the form, you’ll receive an acknowledgement email. If we have any questions, we’ll send you an email and may ask you to revise your form. On the next start date for L2L (most Tuesdays), we’ll email you the login instructions to access the assessments (provided your application form is complete and accurate).

2. COMPLETE THE ONLINE SKILLS ASSESSMENTS
After you receive the login instructions, you have seven days to complete the online SKILLSMARKER assessments. ESEE measures your skill levels in three areas: Reading, Writing, and Numeracy. It takes 1 to 2 hours to complete all three assessments. Your results are available online as soon as
you finish each one.

If your assessment scores meet the entry standards, you’ll continue in the Learn to Learn (L2L) course.

PLEASE NOTE: If you don’t meet the required scores, we’ll offer you some options for other free upgrading courses that will help to prepare you for ACE Distance.

For more information about the SKILLSMARKER assessment and required scores, please visit our SKILLSMARKER ASSESSMENTS page.

3. COMPLETE THE LEARN TO LEARN (L2L) ORIENTATION COURSE
This short orientation course will help you determine if you have the computer skills, academic background and personal attributes to succeed in ACE Distance courses. It takes about 20 hours to complete L2L over the course of three weeks. You will have 30 days to complete it; but you can work more quickly if you are able.

If you successfully complete L2L, you can register for an ACE Distance course.

For more information about the Learn to Learn course, please visit our COURSES page.

4. REGISTER FOR YOUR FIRST ACE DISTANCE COURSE
If you successfully complete Learn to Learn, you will receive instructions via email about registering for your first ACE Distance course. You can take one course at a time.

As part of the process, you will also register with your local college.

Free ACE Distance courses start in January, March, April, June, September, and November.

You have 20 weeks to complete each course; but you can move more quickly if you’re able to do so.
For more information about available courses, please visit our COURSES page.
